It's time to go back to school. Camille has already got her new desk - an island of studious calm in the glorious chaos of her bedroom. Matthew is daydreaming about a summer vacation that passed too quickly... His portable desk is very useful, he says, for storing shells and cuttlefish bones collected from the shore. With a little patience and perhaps some condescension, Camille points out a big box labeled "The treasures in our pockets" - a lot more suitable for that kind of thing. Boys!

A very organized girl, Camille already has everything ready for school. She has even chosen her furniture and school supplies: a heavy wooden desk and small bench that match perfectly. She has already put away her schoolbooks, a pencil box, colored pencils and multicolored paper in the spacious drawer.

It's exactly the same as the one I used as a boy, exclaimed her grandfather, delighted. Matthew loves his portable desk, because he can take it everywhere with him - even onto the verandah to draw. The sloping front section with a little inlaid edge is very practical! And inside there is more than enough room - he can put loads of - don't tell anybody! - comic books.
